First night done

.....or should it really be the second night?

I've signed up for the running classes put on through Run On. We had our first class last Monday where we ran the "Magic Mile." They use this one mile run to put you in groups. I was one of the last to cross the line. Not the last, that would be the guy behind me.

They called out my time: 12:20
Me: Ummmmm, what? No. That's wrong. You read that wrong. I shuffle a 15 minute mile on a good day.
Them: 12:20. You did it in 12:20.
Me:This wasn't a mile.
Them: You just did a 12:20 mile
Me: *absolute silence*
Them: Awesome job!

Heck yeah! Awesome job. Shock and awed my friends. Shock and awe.

We were supposed to run last Thursday, but due to the cold and patchy ice class was canceled. So tonight we met our groups. I looked around at my group and other than the guy that finished behind me they all looked like runners. Our workout was run for 2 minutes, walk one minute. I wasn't always the slowest and never the fastest, but I never stopped running during our two minutes, even if it was really slow running, it was running.

So, I can do this! That is what I'll end it on. I can do this! Ain't nothing going to hold me down, oh no (Sorry, I was channeling a little Mase there).

My goal is to RUN the half-marathon during White Rock Lake Marathon in December. Challenge accepted!
